Bruins Promote Kevin Dean to Assistant Coach

By MyFM's Jake Archer - The Boston Bruins have filled the vacant Assistant Coach spot on their staff by naming Providence Bruins Head Coach Kevin Dean to the role. While not officially confirmed, Dean will likely be in charge of the defense for the Bruins in the upcoming season. Under Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy, Dean will join a staff of former NHLers that includes Joe Sacco, Jay Pandolfo and Bob Essensa.

Dean played for ten years in the National Hockey League before retiring due to health concerns. In 2006, he joined the coaching ranks in the ECHL until 2011. He was then named the assistant coach under Cassidy for the Providence Bruins before becoming the head coach last year. In his lone season at the helm for Providence, he led the team to a 43-33 record and a third round playoff exit.
