By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Discussion has picked up once again this week on the purchase of the Milford Water Companyby the Town of Milford. The Finance Committee will meet tonight and like the Board of Selectmen on Monday night will hold an executive session at the end of its meeting tonight to talk about the proposed 63-million dollar acquisition. As negotiations continue, the Massachusetts House passed two bills, sponsored by State Representative Brian Murray, which will allow the town to purchase the utility by borrowing money over a 40-year period instead of the statutory requirement of 30-years and a second bill that needs approval from the Commonwealth dealing with the dissolving of the Milford Water Company and acquisition of its assets by the Town of Milford. The bills move onto the Senate where State Senator Ryan Fattman will help guide the bills through the process, a process that won’t take place this week as there are no formal sessions scheduled. After Senate approval the bills go to Governor Charlie Baker's desk for his signature.
