MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Whitinsville Water Company is filing a petition with the Department of Public Utilities for a general rate increase which represents an overall hike of just over 25-percent. A typical residential customer in Whitinsville/Northbridge would see an increase of approximately nine-dollars and 24-cents per month or about a 17-percent jump depending on customer class and volume used. The D-P-U suspended the effective date of the proposed rate increase until June of next year giving the department time to investigate the Whitinsville Water Company request. Meanwhile, a public hearing on the rate hike will take place for interested residents to express their comments and concerns. It’ll be held Thursday September 21st at 7pm in the Northbridge Town Hall.
